Peace be with you!
- I’m always a little saddened to see the end of May come and the putting away of the May/Mary altar both in church and at home!
Our Blessed Mother is such a great intercessor for our prayers to Jesus and she has taken many of my prayers for my children to the Lord to be answered. AND THEY HAVE BEEN ANSWERED! So my devotion to her will continue with Hail Mary’s, the Rosary and the Devotion in honor of our Mother of Perpetual Help (prayed each Tuesday after Mass) for this sweet lady. Mary Queen of Heaven… pray for us!
- As always in church life and our Liturgical calendar when one season ends another beautiful season begins and we look forward to June brides and grooms and the weddings that will take place in our parish and families in the summer months!
I recently read an article written with reflections on the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony by Pope Francis and how the three most important phrases in a marriage should be: Please, Thank You and I’m Sorry!
Whether we are aware of it or not those of us who have been married for some time teach about the Sacrament every day with our actions. And our children/grandchildren are watching!
Pope Francis quoted Saint Francis who said: “courtesy is the sister of charity; it extinguishes hatred and kindles love.”
Today in our families, in our world, often violent and arrogant, there is a need for far more courtesy!! Do our children see courtesy in our relationship with our spouses??
Do we know how to say Thank You? In our marriages it is important to keep alive our awareness that the other person is a gift from God…..and we should ALWAYS give thanks for gifts from God!
In our lives we make many errors and many mistakes. We all do. That is why we need to be able to use this simple word, “Sorry.”
Can we swallow our pride and share an experience in our married lives when we have had to apologize for our actions and talk about what we may have done better? It is a great healing experience and should serve to strengthen our bond with our spouse.
In our Theology of the Body class taught to our middle school age kids these examples lay the groundwork, so that long before they start thinking about marriage partners, our students envision the Catholic Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as a wonderful gift from a loving God!
In this month of June brides and grooms, lePlease, Thank You’s and I’m Sorry there are enough Please, Thank You’s and I’m Sorry, happening in our families, work places and social events.
God bless your week with courtesy! Karen Clor – DRE
