Religious Formation News – April 2, 2017

Peace be with you!!

  • What a beautiful Sacrament weekend we have just experienced!

Bishop Hanchon invoked the Holy Spirit unto 20 kids and 2 adults and they were Sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at the 4:00 p.m. Mass on March 25th, 2017. How amazing to think that all the wonderful Saints they chose as their Confirmation name were present with us as well! We pray that they go forward and do great works for the Lord with these gifts!! God bless them and keep them close always! (We really enjoyed Bishop Hanchon playing his ukulele and singing “This little light of mine….I’m going to let it shine”!) And we pray that the newly confirmed do let their lights shine for Jesus!

Two little ones were baptized at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 26th, 2017. Elijah Geeck and Morgan Prevost! While this adds a little time to the Mass it is such a blessing to see these youngsters baptized and celebrate with their families! They have become members of Christ Church and our family as well! We welcome them joyfully and patiently accept the extra time it takes!

  • Lent is flying by and it is time to reflect on how we have grown closer to Jesus during this time and what is there still to do?? The RCIA catechumens are “scrutinizing” their path to Jesus and what needs to be done yet to turn their hearts completely toward Him before coming into the church at the Easter Vigil! Please keep Kathy Hastings, Michael Schneider and Amanda Graham in your prayers!

We need to ask ourselves the same question!

  • Our Religious Formation families enjoyed Nicky Gumbels Alpha video on “Why and How should I pray” this past Wednesday night and then we ALL prayed the Way of the Cross for Children in the church!

The Way of the Cross is such a beautiful Lenten prayer and tradition. If you haven’t participated in one yet it is being prayed Wednesday at 5:30 at St. Stephen and Friday at 12:15 at St. Joseph church! It only takes ½ hour to remember the 14 Stations (stopping places) of Jesus on his way to his crucifixion and death! Jesus understands our sufferings!!

  • The kids will be off on spring break next week. We pray that they have safe travels if they are going away and a relaxing time to rejuvenate for Holy Week!!

They will not be attending classes during Holy Week but instead going to the Triduum services of Holy Thursday @ 7:00 p.m. St. Stephen church, Good Friday services: Stations of the Cross @ 1:00 p.m. followed by Sacred Music at 2:00 p.m. and then Good Friday Passion of the Lord at 3:00 p.m.

We may even get some to attend the Easter Vigil happening Saturday April 15th at 9:00 p.m. at St. Stephen. Everyone should experience it at least once!! Darkness and then light! Wonderful Readings! New adult members baptized, confirmed and receiving the Eucharist! It is a great way for us to revel in our own Catholic Christian faith!! I hope to see you there!

God bless!
