The Choirs of St. Joseph will present their annual winter concert on Friday evening, December 11th at 7 p.m. and on Sunday afternoon, December 13th at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 1331 7th St. at Chestnut St., Port Huron. The St. Joseph Chorale and the Celebration Singers will combine to present our concert titled “OUR JOY, OUR HOPE”.
“Hail to the newborn King, Let our voices sing our praises.”
Our songs of Advent anticipation and Christmas joy reinforce the message of hope in, and dependence on the Lord Jesus, as revealed in the Old and New Testament Scripture writings.
Director is Sr. Gloria Korhonen, OP., Principal accompanist is Barbara Collins, assisted by instrumentalists from Parish and community. Donations will be accepted after each concert to benefit the work of MID CITY NUTRITION.
For over 28 years, Mid City Nutrition has been preparing and serving meals in the “soup kitchen” at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on Chestnut Street in Port Huron. Our local Faith Community is united in service to provide hope to our neighbors.

ADORATION – The external act of worship given to an individual or thing. As Catholics the Eucharistic sacrifice (Holy Communion) is the highest form of worship of God. Other forms such as Eucharistic Adoration are also of great value!
THANKSGIVING – Thanks to God! Eucharist from the Greek word Eucharistia meaning…. Thanksgiving…. is the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus!!
I am happy to share that on Wednesday November 18th the parents and children of Religious Formation will be celebrating Thanksgiving Adoration!
ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US!
The evening will begin with a Thanksgiving dinner (complete with turkey, mashed potatoes/gravy, corn, rolls/butter, cranberry relish, desserts, milk and coffee!) Dinner will be served from 4:45 until 5:45 in the gym.
By 6 p.m. promptly the young children will report to their classrooms and the parents and grades seven and eight (and any parishioner who wishes to join us) will head to church for Eucharistic Adoration in Thanksgiving.
Fr. Jeff Allan will be on hand to expose the Blessed Sacrament and give us a short talk on the benefits of Adoring Jesus in the Eucharist. The Monstrance will be placed on the altar amid brightly burning candles (to signify the presence of Christ) and the church lights will be turned down low. Nancy Trudell will lead us in a short guide on “what” we may ponder and pray about during a Thanksgiving Adoration.
Then it will be quiet time to “Rest in the Lord”! To sit or kneel in His presence. To give thanks. To lay at His feet any problems or trials we are experiencing! To let Jesus wrap his loving arms around us in Thanksgiving for our gifts to Him!!! He loves us so much! Soft music will be played and prayer guides will be available!
At 6:50 the younger grades will silently join the adults and older children in church!
After silent prayer and a beautiful Praise and Worship Adoration video, Fr. Jeff will lead a Eucharistic Procession through the church, holding the Monstrance w/Jesus up high and stopping to bless us all along the way (incense will be used).
In the end Fr. Jeff will repose the Blessed Sacrament (Jesus) back to the Tabernacle and lead us all in Benediction and the Divine Praises!
Won’t you join us for this beautiful event?

There are many ways to live a good life. One powerful way is to become a sister with the Dominicans of Adrian. We preach the life-giving work of God to our world in many ways through our ministries and our commitment to God’s people and creation. We base our lives on the four Dominican pillars: prayer, study, community and preaching/ministry. We welcome single Catholic women to come and discern God’s call in your life with us.
